രാമസ്യ അയനം- Ramayanam

The book that I am trying to read now is Ramayanam. I have had glimpse of the book in the past and had read different parts at different times, it is one of the books I keep aside my bed to reach out whenever I feel a need to regain my inner strength. I have been reading every thing I can about the book so far and I have gathered enough courage to begin reading it from start this month of karkadakam.Just two days, I am almost through the first chapter. So it is going at a good pace. Ever since i started reciting it, I feel eternal bliss. Never before I felt this kind of happiness from reading a book.This reminds me of the lines.....

കാവ്യം സുഗേയം കഥ രാഘവീയം
കര്‍ത്താവു തുന്ജതതുളവായ ദിവ്യന്‍
ചൊല്ലുന്നതോ ഭക്തിമയ സ്വരത്തില്‍
ആനന്ദ ലബ്ധിക്കിനി എന്തുവേണം


Most remarkable today is the scene between Parasuram and Sreeram. After winning Sita, the royal family set off to ayodhya along with the young brides and grooms and was halted by Parasuram on their way. The angry, bitter and arrogant Brahmin challenged the young Rama to fight...Calm and composed, Rama replied in the most humble way. I marked these lines for me read again....


"ഞാനൊഴിഞ്ഞുണ്ടോ രാമനിത്രിഭുവനതിങ്ങള്‍
മനവനായ ഭവാന്‍ ക്ഷത്രിയനെന്നകിലോ
നില്ലുനില്ലരക്ഷനമെന്നോട് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന്‍
വിലിങ്കല്‍ നിനക്കേറ്റം വല്ലഭമുണ്ടല്ലോ കേള്‍
നീയല്‍ ബലാല്‍ ശൈവ ചാപം ഖണ്ടിച്ചതെന്റെ
കൈലുണ്ടൊരു ചാപം വൈഷ്ണവം മഹാസാരം
കഷ്ത്രിയകുല ജാതനകില്‍ നീ ഇതു കൊണ്ടു
സത്വരം പ്രയോഗിക്കില്‍ നിന്നോട് യുദ്ധം ചെയ്വാന്‍്
അല്ലായ്കില്‍ കൂട്ടത്തോടെ സംഹരിചീടുന്നതുണ്ടില്ല
സന്ടെഹമെനിക്കതെന്നു ധരിച്ചാലും
കഷ്ത്രിയ കുലാന്തകന്‍ ഞാനെന്നതരിന്ജീലെ
ശത്രുതം നമ്മില്‍ പണ്ടു പണ്ടേ ഉന്ടെന്നൊര്ക്കനീ"

To which Rama replies...

"ചൊല്ലെഴും മഹാനുഭാവന്മാരാം പ്രൌഢാത്മാക്കള്‍
വല്ലാതെ ബാലന്മാരോടിങ്ങനെ തുടങ്ങിയാല്‍
ആശ്രയമവര്ക്കെന്തോന്നുള്ള്തു തപോനിധെ
സ്വാശ്രമ കുലധര്‍മമെങ്ങനെ പാലിക്കുന്നു
നിന്തിരുവടി തിരുവുളളത്തിലേറുന്നതി-
നന്തരമുണ്ടോ പിന്നെ വരുന്നു നിരൂപിച്ചാല്‍?
അന്ധനയിരിപ്പൊരു ബാലകനുണ്ടോ ഗുണ-
ബന്ധനം ഭവിക്കുന്നു സന്തതം ചിന്തിച്ചാലും
ക്ഷത്രിയ കുലത്തിങ്കല്‍ ഉത്ഭവിക്കയും ചെയ്തേന്‍
ശസ്ത്ത്രാസ്ത്ര പ്രയോഗസാമര്ത്യമില്ലല്ലോതാനും
ശത്രുമിത്രോദാസീന ഭാവവും എനിക്കില്ല
ശത്രുസംഹാരം ചെയ്വാന്‍ ശക്തിയുമില്ലയല്ലോ
അന്തകാന്തകന്‍ പോലും ലംഖിച്ചീടുനനതല്ല
നിന്തിരുവടിയുടെ ചിന്തിതം അതുമൂലം
വില്ലിങ്ങു തന്നാലും ഞാനകിലോ കുലച്ച്ചീടാം
അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ തിരുവുളളക്കേടുമുണ്ടാകവേണ്ടാ"
